1. Get Help From A Friend

You won’t be able to hold up the hood while you install the aftermarket hood lift, so you will need to find someone to help you. You can also use the hood support bar if your car has one. Never use a prop stick to hold up the hood, as it could easily fall off or break. If the hood were to fall on you during installation, it could cause serious injury.

2. Remove The Current Struts

You will need to remove the hood lift installed on your vehicle. You can do this by removing one and replacing it with the new lift support before removing and replacing the other. You will need to use a flathead screwdriver to remove the retaining clips, then the struts themselves.

3. Remove The Ball of The Strut

Once you have removed the strut, you will need to remove the fastener that connects the lift support to the body of the car. Use the flathead screwdriver to pry off the ball of the strut. This removes the entire hardware.

Once you have removed the strut, you will need to remove the fastener that connects the lift support to the body of the car. Use the flathead screwdriver to pry off the ball of the strut. This removes the entire hardware.

To install your lift supports, you will want to put the hood lift in place but not tighten it down. You will need to use your fingers to add pressure to the ball of the new strut to guide it into place. Install both struts one at a time, then tighten them both down.

Once you know how to replace hood struts and have successfully installed your new hood lift, you can have the peace of mind of knowing that you are using a quality product that will last for many years.
